Fundraising is underway for our new friary chapel
The Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate are presently raising funds for the building of a small church dedicated to Our Lady Queen of the Angels. The friary church will offer daily Mass, devotions, retreats and eventually perpetual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
The Church is dedicated to Our Lady Queen of the Angels as an act of thanksgiving to Our Blessed Mother for bringing the friars to the Archdiocese of Perth, WA for the first foundation of the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate in Australia. In August of 1995 Fr. Stefano Manelli entrusted the friars in the USA to found a mission in Australia. Because of its size and vastness the friars had no idea where to begin but the very next day a person wrote to them that there was a misspelled word on their website which read, “Our Lady Queen of the Angles” but should have been “Our Lady Queen of the Angels”. It was learned that the person who wrote the email regarding the correction was from Perth, Western Australia and a member of the Franciscan Third Order. As it is so often said, the rest was history! From this contact the friars eventually received an invitation from Archbishop Barry Hickey in 1997 to open their first mission in Australia in the Archdiocese of Perth.
To give thanks to Our Blessed Mother, the Church will be named after “Our Lady Queen of the Angels” a title very dear the heart of all Franciscans in that St. Francis founded the three orders of friars, Poor Clares and Third Order at the little Church of St. Mary, Queen of the Angels.
The Gothic Medieval Church was masterfully designed by Michael J. Suttie of SuttieRofe Architects of Sydney, NSW and will be built with 7770 limestone blocks.
The Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate are appealing for donations and prayers for the construction of Our Lady Queen of the Angels Friary Church for the glory and honour of Almighty God and His Most Holy Immaculate Mother.
O Queen of Heaven, sovereign Queen of Angels, You who at the beginning received from God the power and the mission to crush the head of Satan, we beseech You humbly, to speedily bring about the construction of this friary church, so that Thy holy Legions may be sent out, under Thy command and by Thy power, to pursue the evil spirits, encounter them on every side, resist their bold attacks and drive them hence into the abyss of eternal woe. Our Lady Queen of Angels, pray for us! Holy Angels and Archangels, pray for us! Amen.
